There is no precise answer. Pets have been adopted within days, weeks, or some may take months to rehome after being listed on Adopt a Pet. Some pets are adopted very quickly, others take more or may not get any interest. Listing your pet on Rehome does not guarantee adoption. Keep looking for an adopter or rescue elsewhere while using Rehome.
Below are our top 4 tips for attracting adopters to your pet's listing online.
Tip: If you edit your published pet, your pet may be hidden for up to 3 business days for review. Plan your editing accordingly and try to only edit once.
Add a few fun words to the pet's name. The pet's name is visible in search results, which is where adopters click to see your pet. For example, if your pet's name is Max, type the name as "Lap cat Max" or "Max Loves Kids".
2. First photo
Often a new 1st photo will get new interest. You will need to delete all your pet's photos to add back a new photo 1st. Also, read tips for taking photos to attract more adopters.
3. Details in your pet's story
If you haven't already, you can add your pet's exact age and weight to the pet's story. Write out the numbers like "is five years old" because typing actual numbers may trigger your pet to be temporarily hidden for up to 3 days for re-review.
4. Share your pet's profile
Share your pet on social media and in emails to all your friends and family and ask them to share with their network. You can also ask local businesses to share your pet as a "pet of the week" too.
