Using good photos on your pet's profile helps your pet get more attention, click throughs, profile views, and applications from potential adopters! The 1st photo (aka your pet's main photo) is the most important, as that is the only photo potential adopters see as their scrolling through their search results.
If your pet hasn't had any interest in a while, try deleting the photos and adding new ones, or add them back with a different main photo. To do that, simply log in to Rehome, select "Edit Profile" from your pet's dashboard, scroll down to "Photos & video" and click "Edit" within that section.
Photo Do’s:
- Use treats or hold a squeaky toy next to your camera so your pet will look right into the camera!
- Take photos in a bright place so your pet is well-lit.
- Take dog photos outside or with the window light shining in on them.
- Take cat photos inside with all the lights on, open window shades, putting the brightest window behind you as the photographer.
- Put a colorful bandana or collar on your pet.
- Place a toy in a photo.
- Remove any clutter! Take photos with nice lush grass or light solid-color fabric (like a sheet) as the entire background.
- Pro Tip: If you stand above your pet and have them look up at you, the floor simply becomes the background.
- Pets relaxing on beds or furniture can be cute!
- For scale: A person's hand in the photo touching your pet will help show the pet's size.
- If your pet is treat motivated, don't give them any treats before their photo session so they'll be even more eager to pose for you!
Photo Don'ts:
- Don't use photos that are dark or blurry.
- Don't use photos that have other pets in them unless they are part of a bonded pair.
- Don't use photos from digital cameras that are very high resolution as those photos will be too large to add to your pet's profile.
